WALES’ leading aluminium fabricator, Dudley’s Aluminium, has secured two new projects with ISG which will benefit students across South Wales.
The first build, a contract in excess of half a million pounds, is Cardiff University’s Computer Science and Maths Building. The project will bring together the two departments into one world-leading facility, providing opportunities for greater collaboration and research as well as improving the student experience.
Designed by the South Wales studio of national practice Stride Treglown with renowned design studio, Adjaye Associates, the building on Senghennydd Road in Cathays will support the growth of both departments.
Dudley’s will be using a selection of Kawneer products on the build including manually and automatically operated windows and doors, and both SSG and capped curtain walling.
The second build that the Cardiff-based aluminium fabricator is working on with ISG is The STEAM Academy in Bridgend. The Academy, situated at Bridgend College’s campus in Pencoed, will be a flagship for showcasing 21st century teaching and learning in the subject areas of Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics.
The £800,000 project is expected to bring economic and cultural growth to the county of Bridgend, developing further employment and training opportunities in the region in line with the Welsh Government’s strategic priorities.
In addition to being a world class educational establishment, the Academy will offer many benefits to the local community including facilities for public and business use such as cafés, conference facilities and a multi-purpose lecture hall.
As well as using a range of Kawneer products such as doors, windows, SSG and capped curtain walling, Dudley’s will be installing fire resistant windows, glass smoke louvres and automatic window opening actuators for ventilation, suitable for the nature of the classes that will be taught on site.
Colin Shorney, Managing Director of Dudley’s said: “We are delighted to be working with ISG on these projects for Cardiff University and Bridgend College, continuing our extensive commitment to working within the education sector. These exciting projects will benefit students across South Wales and the wider communities.”
Dudley’s reputation for quality has been recognised with several industry-related accreditations. The company is CHAS and Achilles accredited, Constructionline registered and certified to manufacture “Secured by Design” products.
